Which supermarket is cheaper?
The short answer
None of them. It depends what is in the basket. Here is what the same one cost at each chain today.

The basket matters more than the chain
The 11 baskets on this page do not give the same answer. That is not noise: the cheapest supermarket for a basket of cleaning products is not the cheapest for a basket of dairy. It is why the tool asks what you want to buy before it answers.
How this was worked out
For each chain we find the cheapest way to cover every line in whole packs, and add it up. A chain missing a line is not ranked, because its total would be lower only for covering less. Prices for 17 Oct 2026.
What this page does not say
- It does not say that any chain is cheap or expensive. It says where the lowest total came out in this comparison, on this day, among the products we hold.
- Chains do not carry the same products, or the same number of them. A chain with a narrow range is judged on fewer.
- Loyalty cards, coupons, in-store offers and whether there is a branch near you are not taken into account.
- Ranking is on price alone. We do not assess quality, taste, ingredients or suitability.
- Prices are refreshed once a day, are indicative and are not an offer. Always check the price at the till.
